Gou Qiang (鈎鎗, barbed spear) was a cavalry spear with two to four three small hooks below the spearhead. It measured eight chi five cun in length and weighted three jin.
Gou Qiang was frequently used by the Mongols, although it was originally a Chinese weapon recorded in Song Dynasty Wu Jing Zong Yao (《武經總要》). It was similar, but distinct, from Gou Lian Qiang (鈎鐮鎗).
